Over the next few weeks we hope to introduce you to some of the people who serve in our worship ministry as well as give you a behind the scenes glimpse into the worship planning process here at Orangewood.

Each week we meet as a team and plan the elements of worship based on the vision Jeff has given us for his message series. The meetings entail discussions of the topics, batting around ideas that would fit them, and lots of laughter. We’ve worked together long enough to have found a convivial familiarity that often leads to funny observations and situations that make us laugh loud and long. When planning something as serious as the worship of our Lord, we often find humor in the process. It’s not all fun and games though… often our conversations are serious and we discuss topics and issues that are often hard to grasp. Those times are good too, as they stretch us in our desire to honor the Lord in our worship of Him.

Here’s our team and a little lighthearted info about each one.

Kyle Mattingly – Kyle holds a music degree from UCF, plays the piano, keyboard, and cowbell on Sunday mornings, and arranges all the music for worship. He is married to Sarah, who works in the sound booth during Worship each weekend. In his spare time he likes tennis, racquetball, reading blogs, annoying his dogs, and making neo-classical sculptures with toothpicks.

Jack Michels – Jack attended Pensacola Christian College, serves as our Worship Director, plays the guitar and piano, sings, and leads us in Worship each week. He and his wife, Stephanie, have three sons. Jack is a big-time football fan, but his claim to fame is that he once sat next to Shaq at a basketball game!

Chris Russell – Chris graduated from Full Sail and has been running sound in churches for about 11 years. He is responsible for all things involving sound, lights, and video in worship. Each week Chris brings us the beautiful graphics and visuals that enhance our worship services. He and his wife Kacey have two children, Kaley and Noah. Chris’ hobbies are photography and riding his Harley.

Vicki Taylor – Vicki holds a music degree from UCF with post graduate work from Stetson University. She works with the singers, sings, teaches vocal music at OCS, and plays the cd player. She and her husband Don have three sons and a daughter. In her off time, Vicki likes to garden, get stuck in yoga poses, and play.

Zach Van Dyke - Zach holds a degree in Theatre from FSU, is pursuing a graduate degree from RTS, and is our Student Ministries Director. Zach and his wife Kelly have two sons and a brand new baby girl. Zach’s interests include writing, tennis, and stretching. (It’s what he wrote— I’m not making this stuff up.)

As you can see, we’re a diverse group—a little goofy at times, but we enjoy the camaraderie we have in working together.

Pray for us as we plan and serve!
